Federal authorities arrest 17 people in human trafficking ring with Chicago ties
The U.S. Department of Justice has arrested five Americans and 12 Thai nationals for allegedly bringing hundreds of women from Thailand to Chicago, Los Angeles, and other major U.S. cities, promising them a better life in the U.S. “Once in the United States, victims were allegedly placed in houses of prostitution, where they were forced to work long hours—often all day, every day,” the DOJ said in a statement.
